Dolce & Gabbana Event in Palma di Montechiaro – A Tribute to The Leopard
Why does Dolce and Gabbana choose Palma di Montechiaro?
The city of Tomasi, the land of the Leopard.

The famous Dolce & Gabbana event took place in Palma di Montechiaro, Sicily, to present their 2020 Alta Gioielleria collection – a celebration of beauty, history, and Sicilian soul.
Why Palma di Montechiaro?
Because this is the land of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, author of The Leopard, one of the most iconic novels in Italian literature. A tale of transformation, decadence, and love during the Risorgimento, The Leopard is deeply connected to this land – the very one chosen by Dolce & Gabbana to stage an unforgettable night of luxury.
From the terraces of ancient monasteries to the vibrant piazzas echoing with choral music, the town was transformed into a theatrical stage. Locals watched from balconies as guests walked under cascades of rose petals. The final piazza, opening onto the Mediterranean Sea, hosted the jewelry display beneath ancient fig trees. Necklaces and bracelets gleamed with emeralds, rubies, and diamonds, shaped like snakes, geckos, and fantastical creatures.
During the night, Silvya Mantella announced she would donate her 2017 gown – hand-painted with two leopards and inspired by The Leopard – to Palazzo Valguarnera-Gangi, the historical location where much of Visconti’s film adaptation was shot.
Princess Carine Vanni Calvello Mantegna di Gangi received the gown with emotion, followed by a family speech by Gioacchino Lanza Tomasi, heir of the Lampedusa legacy. Upstairs, the original manuscript of The Leopard was displayed, and the dinner began with the novel’s famous “leopard timbale” – a richly layered macaroni pie.
